Sean Rekeny
Sean has spent over two decades mentoring athletes, developing high-level hockey programs, and ensuring an elite yet fun training experience. His background at Heartland Hockey Camp facilitating camp operations, staff leadership, and facility management makes him the perfect fit to lead the hockey & adventure experience at Tanuga.

Mike King
Camp Tanuga Director/Owner
Mike brings a high-energy personality and passion for helping others. He creates immersive experiences that inspire campers while ensuring the Tanuga spirit is felt far and wide. Mike was captain of the ACHA Ferris State D2 team and has over 12 years experience coaching summer camps at Heartland Hockey Camp.

Colin Bailey
Colin is a USA Hockey Level 4 certified coach and the Head Coach of the NCAA Division III men’s hockey team at The College of St. Scholastica. He has coached at every level, including juniors and college, and brings over 15 summers of camp experience, including 10 years as Director and Head Coach at Heartland Hockey Camp. Known for his high-energy, passionate coaching style, Colin brings leadership and a championship mindset to Tanuga.

Nick MonzOn
Assistant Coach
Nick Monzon brings competitive energy and a team-first mindset to Tanuga Hockey Camp. A native of South Lyon, Michigan, Nick played for the Wausau Cyclones in the NA3HL, where he developed a strong work ethic and passion for the game. He brings great energy to the ice and enjoys helping players improve while having fun at camp.
Sid Friedman
Raised at Camp Tanuga, Sid has dedicated his career to creating transformative camp experiences that foster growth, confidence, and friendships that last a lifetime. With a deep commitment to the Tanuga tradition, he ensures that hockey campers enjoy the same spirit, adventure, and community that makes Camp Tanuga an unforgettable summer destination.

Taylor Carey
Taylor brings high-level goalie coaching experience from high school, college, and junior hockey. Dedicated to building confident and composed goaltenders, he creates an encouraging environment where players grow their skills, mindset, and passion for the game. Taylor is the current NA3HL Wausau Cyclones goalie coach/scout.

Jonathan Juliano
Jonathan brings a passion for playing and coaching to Tanuga Hockey Camp, with a background spanning from playing in the NAHL to winning an ACHA D1 national championship to minor league professional hockey. Known for his leadership, attention to detail, and player-first approach, he creates a competitive, positive environment where athletes grow their skills, confidence, and love for the game.
Head Coach
Alex Johnson
Alex is the ultimate character guy and brings joy, fun, and passion to our camp. He likes to encourage campers in an upbeat way. Alex played ACHA D2 Ferris State Hockey, was a 2-time ACHA all-star, and was line mates with Coach Mike. He is also the designer of our reversible jerseys that each camper will receive at check in. We couldn’t be more excited to have Coach Alex!

Our dedicated team of coaches, counselors, and staff are committed to mentoring, inspiring, and creating an environment where players grow—on and off the ice. Off the ice, at Camp Tanuga, we have over 50 amazing counselors/staff who come from all over the world. They create what we like to call the “Tanuga Magic.”
